According to a recent article from Medical News Today, there are now more internet searches for CBD than any other alternative therapies. The article goes on to say that the interest in CBD is high. Study co-author, John W. Ayers notes that three years ago there were virtually no one searching for CBD online, but now there are an estimated 6.4 million searches for CBD every month.
CONTINUED GROWTH IN ONLINE SEARCHES FOR CBD
During the last three years, the increase in CBD searches has been particularly pronounced. It increased by 125% during 2017 and then 160% during 2018. Experts expect it to be up by 180% in 2019. This rapid gain can be explained by the fact that hemp and CBD were illegal previous to those years. One would expect a rapid rise in searches as more and more people find the many benefits of CBD.
STATES WITH LEGAL MARIJUANA HAVE THE LARGEST NUMBER OF SEARCHES
States with legal recreational marijuana had the greatest number of searches, followed by the states that had medicinal marijuana, and then the states where marijuana is illegal had the fewest searches. It makes sense that the states where marijuana is legal would have a populace that is open to finding new, effective treatments for the things they suffer.
CBD SHOULD BECOME A PUBLIC HEALTH PRIORITY
The study’s authors assert that “Investigation into CBD should become a public health priority to catch up with the public’s interest.” I would add that the healthcare community should catch up with the benefits of using CBD. The study failed to mention the existing research that already shows the results of CBD on a variety of ailments and conditions.
WE WILL SEE A CONTINUING INCREASE IN THE SEARCHES FOR CBD
As the knowledge of the many benefits grows, we will see a significant increase in the online searches of CBD. In addition, word of mouth will spread the word of CBD to anyone who has a need to find relief.
