THE CONFUSION AROUND CBD CONTINUES

NEW YORK BUST HIGHLIGHTS GROWING CONFUSION OVER HEMP

The CBD craze is leaving the war on drugs a bit dazed and confused. New York police posted on social media last week about what seemed like a significant drug bust: 106 pounds of what officers were convinced was marijuana. As it turned out, it was actually industrial hemp shipped in from a farm in Vermont, complete with the requisite paperwork to prove it.

OWNER ARRESTED WHEN TRYING TO STRAIGHTEN THINGS OUT.

Even though there was paperwork to verify what the substance was, when the owner of the hemp went to the police to get it all straightened out, he was arrested for possession of marijuana. The police stated the product tested positive for THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, thus making it marijuana. As most everyone knows, hemp has an allowable percentage of THC (.3%).

POLICE NOT AT FAULT

The police are only doing their job and enforcing the law as they see it. The confusion surrounding hemp and CBD is the result of conflicting and confusing laws. What would help is certified and standardized testing and documentation that can follow any hemp shipment. Truck loads could be certified, locked and then the police can know the shipment is actually hemp and not marijuana.

IN TIME, THE CHANGES WILL BE MADE.

Eventually, the changes will be made, and all this confusion will be behind us. As CBD becomes more prevalent and as more and more people are finding how beneficial it can be for them, we will see the changes made in the laws. It will take more people contacting the people in congress and in the state legislatures and letting them know how they feel.

ONLINE SEARCHES FOR CBD EXPLODES

According to a recent article from Medical News Today, there are now more internet searches for CBD than any other alternative therapies. The article goes on to say that the interest in CBD is high. Study co-author, John W. Ayers notes that three years ago there were virtually no one searching for CBD online, but now there are an estimated 6.4 million searches for CBD every month.

CONTINUED GROWTH IN ONLINE SEARCHES FOR CBD

During the last three years, the increase in CBD searches has been particularly pronounced. It increased by 125% during 2017 and then 160% during 2018. Experts expect it to be up by 180% in 2019. This rapid gain can be explained by the fact that hemp and CBD were illegal previous to those years. One would expect a rapid rise in searches as more and more people find the many benefits of CBD.

STATES WITH LEGAL MARIJUANA HAVE THE LARGEST NUMBER OF SEARCHES

States with legal recreational marijuana had the greatest number of searches, followed by the states that had medicinal marijuana, and then the states where marijuana is illegal had the fewest searches. It makes sense that the states where marijuana is legal would have a populace that is open to finding new, effective treatments for the things they suffer.

CBD SHOULD BECOME A PUBLIC HEALTH PRIORITY

The study’s authors assert that “Investigation into CBD should become a public health priority to catch up with the public’s interest.” I would add that the healthcare community should catch up with the benefits of using CBD. The study failed to mention the existing research that already shows the results of CBD on a variety of ailments and conditions.

WE WILL SEE A CONTINUING INCREASE IN THE SEARCHES FOR CBD

As the knowledge of the many benefits grows, we will see a significant increase in the online searches of CBD. In addition, word of mouth will spread the word of CBD to anyone who has a need to find relief.

VANDALIZED CBD STORE

MORE CONFUSION OVER CBD

A CBD STORE IN ENGLAND IS VANDALIZED

Vandals, mistaking a CBD store for a store that sells drugs, broke windows and put super glue in the front door lock. One must assume that the vandals thought CBD was marijuana as they spray painted the words, ‘Stop Drugs’ on the front window of the shop.

CONFUSION OVER CBD CONTINUES.

I have had people ask me why I am selling CBD. The simple answer is because it helps people. It can help reduce muscle and joint pain; it can help reduce anxiety and depression; and it can help people sleep that have difficulty sleeping, as well as many other ailments. The implication in the question is that it is considered an illegal drug, or an illicit drug. It is neither.

CBD IS LEGAL IN IDAHO

CBD is legal in Idaho as long as it has 0% THC, the ingredient in marijuana that makes you high. Even a small percentage of THC will render the CBD illegal. This is why it is extremely important to know what is in the product before you buy it. If you have to have a drug test for work, any THC will show up and cause problems for you.

ENSURE THE CBD PRODUCT YOU PURCHASE HAS A COA

A COA is a Certificate Of Analysis, which should be from an independent, third party laboratory to ensure authenticity. Any legitimate company will have a COA for every product they offer for sale. All you will need to do is ask for one. If they can’t produce one, don’t buy the product. In addition to knowing what is in the product, it is as important to know what isn’t in the product, such as heavy metals or pesticides. Eden Organics has a COA for every product we sell. You can buy with confidence at Eden Organics.

CBD HELPS IN CANCER TREATMENT

CHEMO DOSES COULD BE LOWERED THROUGH CBD USAGE

In a recent blog entry, Helen Wilson wrote about the usage of CBD to aid in chemotherapy for cancer treatment. I will use some of that blog for today’s post.

A NEW USE FOR CBD IN TREATING CANCER PATIENTS

The usage of CBD as an adjunct to chemotherapy was developed by a team of researchers in Israel. A team, lead by Professor Alexander Binshtok, and made up of researchers from Hebrew University and Germany’s Hannover Medical School, created a method that delivers the chemo drugs directly to the malignant cells, bypassing the healthy ones in the body.

This new method could enable doctors to lower the doses of chemo for cancer patients, improving the overall prognoses and treatment compliance, and it would also decrease the side effects associated with chemotherapy.

CHEMO ATTACKS HEALTHY CELLS AS WELL AS CANCER CELL

Talking about the method, Professor Binshtok said that a majority of anti-cancer treatments aren’t adequately specific as they tend to attack even the healthy cells while they are attacking the malignant cells in the patient’s body. As a result, chemotherapy leads to multiple side effects of serious nature.

Explaining further, Professor Binshtok stated that targeting and eliminating only the affected cancerous cells and leaving the healthy cells alone in the procedure is a critical step to diminish the suffering of the patients.

CBD HELPS TARGET THE REDUCED DOSE OF THE CHEMO DRUGS

The team utilized CBD and one more agent for activating TRPV2 protein so that a canal inside liver cancer cell membranes could be opened. Then the team inserted a reduced dose of doxorubicin, a chemo drug, through this canal and into the cancer cells directly.

This is just one more reason to spend more money and time on research using CBD.

FEAR AND WORRY CAN BE BAD FOR OUR HEALTH

WORRY AND FEAR CAN KEEP US FROM IMPROVING OUR LIVES

All to often we can let our worries and fears impact our lives in negative ways. Certainly, it is a good idea too be cautious and not rush into things without serious thought and investigation. That is how we learn and grow and find many things that will improve our lives. However, there are times when worry or fear will paralyze us and keep us from doing something that would possibly end up helping us.

THE CONFUSION AROUND CBD CAN CAUSE WORRY AND FEAR

Because there is so much confusion surrounding CBD, we could have a tendency to ignore it and the many ways in which it can improve our lives. So many people think that CBD is illegal in Idaho. It is legal as long as it has 0% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. All of the CBD products at Eden Organics are legal in Idaho, containing 0% THC.

INVESTIGATE CBD AND ITS MANY HELPFUL PROPERTIES

A simple search for CBD research, or CBD uses on Google will produce a plethora of information that can help anyone who is looking to learn about the important aspects of this helpful product. By doing so, one may possibly find some relief from ailments that may be causing them to suffer. HOW EDEN ORGANICS CAME TO BE

THE GENESIS OF AN IDEA

In the spring of 2019, the genesis of an idea was born. It was suggested we open a store selling CBD products as there weren’t a lot of places in Idaho Falls where people could buy CBD with confidence.

FINDING THE RIGHT PLACE

The first step was to find a place that had all the right elements – adequate parking, right size, good location, and affordable. After a few months of searching, we found the perfect place, 1619 Curlew, Ste 9 in Ammon.

IS IT LEGAL?

Before we could sign a lease and make that kind of commitment, we had to determine if selling CBD was legal in Idaho. That turned out to be more of a challenge than we had anticipated. Since there is so much confusion surrounding CBD, it was difficult to get an answer to that question. Eventually, we were able to find the answer from the State Attorney’s office. CBD is legal as long as it contains zero percentage of THC, the psycho-active ingredient in marijuana.

FINDING THE BEST MANUFACTURER

The next step was to find a manufacturer that could provide the best products with Certificates of Analysis that ensured the product had the ingredients that was advertised and that it did not contain any THC. We found that manufacturer after weeks of investigation.

MAKING THE STORE AN INVITING, COMFORTABLE PLACE FOR ALL AGES.

This step required a concerted effort from the entire family. With their help, we were able to decorate the store and arrange the products and furniture so that it was a place where anyone would feel comfortable and welcomed.

MANY OTHER CHALLENGES TO OVERCOME.

We then had to find banking arrangements, and ATM so that those who wanted to use a credit or debit card would be able to, and marketing strategies to let people know we were in business. Because of the nature of the CBD phenomenon in the United States and the lack of intelligent laws, we found that finding those final elements represented an almost unsurmountable challenge. Yet, we persevered, and we are now able to offer CBD products that people can purchase with confidence, knowing they are getting the best products available.

NOW WE ARE IN BUSINESS

We are now able to help people overcome some of the health challenges they face. That fact alone is enough to make this a worthwhile project. We are now helping people sleep better, ease anxiety, reduce aches and pain and a variety of other ailments.

SIX THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN SHOPPING FOR CBD

SIX THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN SHOPPING FOR CBD OIL.

Deep Patel has written a post for Green Entrepreneur. I will be using information from that post for today’s post.

  1. WHERE IS THE CERTIFICATE OF ANALYSIS?

A Certificate of Analysis is a document that shows where, when and how a particular product was scientifically tested to ensure safety and quality control. Any legitimate CBD brand will be more than happy to show its COA. This third party, independent lab analysis, ensures the manufacturers are accountable to what is in their product. Without the COA, the consumer has no idea what exactly is in the product.

  • WHERE WAS IT GROWN?

Because hemp absorbs everything in the soil it is planted in, the good and the bad, it is important to know where it was grown. Some imported hemp can have many harmful elements. The COA, that was mentioned earlier, can indicate the presence or lack of those harmful elements. One should only buy CBD products extracted from hemp grown in the USA.

  • HOW MANY MILLIGRAMS OF CBD ARE IN A PARTICULAR CBD OIL?

The first place to start is the COA, as mentioned above. This will give you the total amount of CBD in the product. Then, simple math will give you the rest of the information. If you purchase a tincture with 1000 milligrams of CBD in a bottle that gives you 30 doses, you can divide 30 into 1000 giving you 33 milligrams per dose. 500 milligrams will have 16 milligrams per dose, and so on. Normally we recommend people start at a low dose and then work up if needed.

  • ISOLATE, BROAD SPECTRUM, OR FULL SPECTRUM?

There are benefits to full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD. Some Experts state that the other Phyto cannabinoids (sometimes including THC) may provide a more powerful synergistic effect.

This means that the compounds work better together and may deliver better results to the patient than if the CBD were extracted.

The isolate may have a less organic taste that many may prefer.

  • IS THERE ANY THC IN THE PRODUCT?

In the State of Idaho, there can be no THC in any product. Even the smallest amount renders the product illegal as the State of Idaho considers any product with THC as an ingredient, regardless of the percentage, as marijuana and thus illegal. Once again, checking the COA for any product will determine if it contains any THC.

  • DO I NEED A TINCTURE, GUMMIE, VAPE, OINTMENT, OR PILL?

What is the best delivery system for CBD? The fastest and most effective is vape, tincture, or spray. Since there is some concern about vape and its safety, we recommend a tincture or spray as the fastest delivery of CBD. For a localized pain, one can also use an ointment or roll on.

CONCLUSION

So, the takeaway from these six items is that, as a consumer, we should be aware of where the CBD product is grown and what exactly is in it.

We at Eden Organics strive to help our customers find the right product for their needs and to ensure they get the best product possible. Be sure to ask the staff to show the COA for the product you are interested in.

CBD, a Personal Experience

Image by Mariusz Slonski from Pixabay

Today’s post is about someone we will call ‘M’ to protect her identity. M was experiencing sciatica pain in both legs and had suffered with mild arthritic pain in her hands for several years. There had been several attempts at treatment, all having little to no effect on her pain in her legs or lack of movement in her hands. Doctors could offer little help for the sciatic pain and the stiffness in her hands was something she felt she was just going to have to live with.

DEBILITATING PAIN AND STIFFNESS

The leg pain was becoming debilitating and the stiffness in her hands was making it extremely difficult to perform simple daily tasks, like tie shoelaces. She had given up on medicine being any help and had tried a few alternative methods, such as Yoga and stretching, but the sciatica remained. As mentioned before, she had decided the stiffness in her hands was just something she was going to have to live with.

CBD TO THE RESCUE

But then, someone suggested she try CBD oil. She purchased a 500 mg bottle of tincture and started taking it daily. Within a couple of weeks, her sciatica was gone. She no longer suffered any pain in her legs. Her knees were also free of pain. After another week or so, her hands lost their stiffness and pain. The CBD had eliminated both ailments with no side effects!

CONTINUING RELIEF

M continues to use CBD on a daily basis, and she is pain free. This is just one of the many stories we hear at Eden Organics of people being helped with a variety of ailments and conditions by CBD.

Hemp, Much Older than You Think

INTERESTING HISTORICAL FACTS ABOUT HEMP

Believe it or not, hemp was one of the first industrial plants in history. According to the Columbia History of the World, an ancient piece of cloth was believed to have been created by man in 8,000 BC.

Hemp’s importance to our early ancestors was made even more clear in 1500 BC. An ancient Hindu text known as ‘The Vedas’ described hemp as on of the five essential plants.

By 1151 AD, the first paper miss was operating at full force on the Iberian Peninsula. Soon, Spain started using hemp as a bartering mechanism. They soon became the largest producer in Europe. The French used hemp to create tents and awnings and the Romans were using it for medicine. It soon became a valuable commodity that was traded across Europe, Asia and the Americas.

HEMP COMES TO THE AMERICAS

In 1619, the colony known as Jamestown declared a law that every farmer must grow hemp. Massachusetts and Connecticut soon followed suit.

In fact, you could be jailed in colonial Virginia if you didn’t grow hemp on your land. By 1776, America became an independent nation dependent on hemp.

In 1850, the Us Pharmacopeia listed hemp as a botanical plant used in formulas to help patients. Cannabis was a regular ingredient in many over-the-counter remedies at the local pharmacy.

HEMP BECOMES ILLEGAL

But, all the good news was about to end. In 1937, the federal government passed the Marihuana Act. This legislation imposed a heavy tax on any product that contained this common fiber. Except for a brief reprieve during World War II, the ban on hemp has been in place.

Hemp and marihuana were lumped together as cannabis plants and in the 1970’s, they were both classed as schedule 1 drugs, along with heroin, cocaine, and meth.

HEMP MAKES A COMEBACK

In 2014 and again in 2018, the federal government enacted the Farm Bill, making it hemp with less than .3% THC legal to grow. Because of the demand for the medicinal advantages of CBD, derived from the hemp plant, we are seeing a resurgence in the production of hemp.

Today we can find CBD oil in a variety of locations. However, one must be careful where they buy the CBD as many of the options available may not have the amount of CBD they claim and they may add some harmful ingredients. Buy from a trusted source such as Eden Organics in Ammon.

CBD, It’s Good for Me

WHY I LIKE CBD

What do I like about CBD? First and foremost, it helps people feel better. The vast majority of people who have used CBD have reported significant improvements in whatever condition they were suffering from.

THE WAYS CBD HELPS PEOPLE

Studies have indicated a significant improvement over anxiety for those taking CBD. In addition to helping those suffering from anxiety, CBD has shown to be effective in helping reduce muscle and joint pain. Many people having difficulty sleeping, or getting a good night’s sleep, have found relief by taking CBD. CBD can also help with certain skin conditions. There is ongoing research that looks to be promising in a variety of other issues that people suffer from.

OPIOID DEPENDENCY

There is some excellent evidence and research that indicates some people have been able to reduce their dependence on opioid pain medication. Some have even stopped taking the opioids all together and are taking CBD to manage their pain. Of course, I wouldn’t suggest everyone just stop taking prescription medication without consulting their physician. But the evidence is there that indicates we have an opportunity to alleviate the opioid epidemic we find ourselves in the midst of. In fact, CBD has been shown in studies to help people free themselves of several addictions, including nicotine by taking CBD.

CBD FOR PETS

A recent survey of over 2500 people who have dogs in pain, indicates that the dogs with joint and muscle pain, experienced significant improvement after they had been given CBD. In addition, dogs with anxiety can be helped with CBD.

CBD CONFUSIION

There is some confusion as to whether CBD is legal in Idaho. The short answer is – yes, it is legal. The caveat is that it cannot contain any THC. When purchasing CBD, one needs to make certain the product does not contain any THC, which would make it illegal in Idaho and, under the right circumstances, could land you in jail. One must also be certain there is no THC in the product if they are subject to drug testing. CBD without any THC will not show up on a drug test. It is the THC that will.

CONCLUSION

Because CBD helps people in so many ways and has no major side effects like many prescription medications, I like CBD. As time goes on, we will see even more dramatic uses for CBD and will find it can benefit our lives in a variety of other ways. I would recommend if you are suffering from any medical condition, take a hard look at CBD, study the research, talk to people, and then give it a try. I know you are going to be pleasantly surprised at its effectiveness.
